BUFFALO HORNS

Being recognized as one agricultural country, Vietnam has been traditionally considered buffalo (the symbol of industriousness of the Vietnamese people) as the most precious property. Buffaloes not only provide the Vietnamese with labor force, meat as food,  but their horns, hide, bones can also be used to make into products as well. Together with leading workshops in HaTay province , HM brings out products with high quality, eye-catching and diversified styles such as shoehorns, rice sticks, forks, bracelets, brooch, etc …

1. Materials:

Bones or horns of buffaloes aged 2, 3 years are used. Unlike cows’ horns, buffaloes’ horns are more flexible and supple to be made into different kinds of products.

2. Production process:

First, the solid area of bones or horns is chosen. Depending on their lengths or the thicknesses, they are sawed into certain pieces. These pieces are then put on fire from 70 to 80 centigrade degree to make them soft, easy to bend.

Based on the designs, each piece is sawed and made into raw product. The raw product is filed, then bended based on the design. The raw product is filed through around 10 phrases, and polished many times with different sandpapers. The products are finished after being polished once more.

3. Strengths:

As only the solid areas of the horns and bones are chosen and carefully processed by hand, the products are very strong and supple which make them artistic and very useful in daily life as well.

Products made of buffaloes’ horns or bones are so shiny that they are not only dust-resistant but also bring us relaxed feelings.

4. Use instructions:

The products are suggested to use carefully as for they are likely to deform or crack in high temperature or wet environment.
